Pierre Players Community Theatre enriches, educates and entertains central South Dakota by engaging volunteers and audience members in the process and product of quality theater. Pierre Players is a place for everyone. Little Players Children's Theatre will hold auditions for "Girl of La Mancha" on Sunday, May 5, 2024, 3 p.m. at the Grand Opera House. There are parts for three males, nine females, and several extras in fifth grade and up. There are two adult roles and several roles to fill behind the scenes. Pierre Players will hold Acting Without Anxiety: A Low-Pressure Workshop for Aspiring Actors on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Led by J.D. Ackman, professor and director of theatre emeritus at South Dakota State University, this workshop offers a safe and supportive environment where you can dip your toes into the world of acting without the pressure of auditions or commitments. Our aim is to provide you with low-pressure activities and immersive experiences that will help build your confidence and introduce you to the basics of acting. Throughout the workshop, you'll engage in a variety of exercises and games designed to unlock your creativity, develop your stage presence, and sharpen your communication skills. Whether you're a complete novice or have some previous experience, there's something for everyone in this workshop. Workshop times are 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. CDT at the Grand Opera House. The fee for this workshop is $25.

Pierre Players will hold auditions for "She Kills Monsters" on Monday, July 8, 2024, 7 p.m. at the Grand Opera House. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all. There are parts for three males and six females or play a role behind the scenes. Performance dates are Sept. 13-15 and Sept. 19-21, 2024.
